france 2016

An old friend of ours, Richard Robinson, told us he had a house to let in the South of France, if we were interested.  We jumped at the chance - we hadn’t been to that particular part before, and its always nice to stay in a friend’s house.

The house was in a little village called Mailhac (we never did find out how to pronounce it properly!).

At one point Richard started to get rather worried for us as there were dire predictions of severe floods!  Luckily we escaped but there was a lot of rain, and the river through the village was spectacular. We had to amuse ourselves indoors for a couple of days.  Very relaxing - reading, listening to music, and drawing.

The closest town was Carcassonne, which we’d always wanted to see, and it wasn’t a disappointment. Two lines of spectacular walls, which we walked round (twice).
